Transportation

Laurentian Hills is reasonably conducive to bicycling as the bicycling network is quite well-developed. A majority of the houses for sale in this part of the city are located in areas that are also quite convenient for those who travel by foot; many common errands can be run without having to use a vehicle. The best method to move around in Laurentian Hills is usually driving. It is a reasonably short drive to the nearest highway, such as Highway 7 & 8, from any home in this neighbourhood, and it is easy to access a place to park. In contrast, public transit users may find few options in this area due to the infrequent service. Nevertheless, the neighbourhood is linked by a few bus lines, and bus stops are typically nearby.

Services

Families will value the proximity to daycares and primary schools, which are within walking distance from most houses for sale in this part of the city. In contrast, Laurentian Hills does not contain any high schools. At the primary level, there are both public and private schools. As far as eating is concerned, it is straightforward to reach the closest supermarket on foot in Laurentian Hills. There are also around 10 restaurants and coffee shops in this neighbourhood.

Character

Laurentian Hills is a reasonably good neighbourhood to buy a home in for those who prefer a relaxed ambience. There are about 20 public green spaces nearby for residents to enjoy, including McLennan Park, and they are very well-situated, making them very easy to get to. This neighbourhood is also fairly good for those who like a quiet atmosphere, as there are low levels of noise from traffic - however some areas can be quite loud, especially closer to Highway 7 & 8.

Housing

Most of the housing growth in Laurentian Hills happened in the 1960s and 1970s. In this part of Kitchener, roughly one third of dwellings are single detached homes, while small apartment buildings and townhouses make up most of the remaining housing stock. About 55% of the dwellings in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners whereas renters occupy the remainder. This area has a good variety of housing sizes, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms.
