Part of the Kitchener - Cambridge - Waterloo metropolitan area, Alpine is a neighbourhood within Kitchener, Ontario.

Transportation

Physically active home buyers will enjoy the pedestrian-friendly nature of Alpine; most day-to-day needs are easy to carry out without the use of a vehicle. It is also convenient to commute by bicycle in this area because the cycling network is quite well-developed. The public transit system in Alpine is somewhat poor. Nevertheless, there are a few bus lines crossing the neighbourhood, and bus stops are generally nearby. On the other hand, driving is a great transportation option in Alpine. It is a very short drive to the closest highway, such as Ottawa Street, from anywhere in this neighbourhood, and it is very easy to park.

Services

It is easy to reach the closest grocery store on foot in this part of the city. Residents are served by a few restaurants and coffee shops as well. Concerning education, parents and their kids will welcome that wherever their home is situated in this area, primary schools are close by. However, Alpine does not have any high schools.

Character

The character of Alpine is exemplified by its slower-paced ambience. Green spaces, including Peter Hallman Ballyard / Activa Sportsplex and Peter Hallman Ballyard/Activa Sportsplex, are very well-distributed and there are approximately 10 of them nearby for residents to discover, making them very easy to get to. This neighbourhood is also very quiet, as there tend to be low levels of noise from traffic - although there are still several louder sections, especially near Highway 7 & 8, Ottawa Street or one of the railway lines.

Housing

Small apartment buildings are the predominant housing type, representing about one quarter of dwellings in Alpine, while the rest are mainly large apartment buildings, single detached homes, and townhouses. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of three bedroom and two bedroom homes. The proportions of renters and homeowners are about even. Most housing in this neighbourhood was constructed between 1960 and 1980, during its biggest building boom.
