Part of the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area, St.Andrew-Windfields is a neighbourhood within Toronto, Ontario.

Transportation

This area presents house buyers with the choice between a diversity of means of transportation. St.Andrew-Windfields is transit friendly. In particular, there is the Oriole on the Richmond Hill. Rapid transit stations, such as York Mills Station - Southbound Platform and York Mills Station - Northbound Platform on the Line 1 (Yonge-University), are not very far-removed from the greater part of houses in the neighbourhood. Residents are served by approximately 20 bus lines, and bus stops are ordinarily nearby. This part of the city is also well-suited for walking; running common errands is easy on foot, and there are also a fair number of businesses close by. Even though certain bicycling-friendly sectors exist, commuting by bicycle is difficult in St.Andrew-Windfields as the cycling infrastructure is rather poor, and there are a good number of hills.

Services

In this part of the city, families will generally be able to reach schools and daycares by walking. Families can choose between public and private schools at both the elementary and high school level. Concerning eating, house buyers in this neighbourhood will appreciate that a grocery store is always only a rather short walk away. Likewise, a restaurant is often just around the corner, and property owners benefit from a few cafes as well.

Character

Despite the somewhat busy feel, there are a lot of green spaces to enjoy in St.Andrew-Windfields. To be more specific, it is very easy to reach parks in the neighbourhood since there are about 30 of them nearby for residents to relax in. Lastly, thanks to the presence of few pedestrians, this neighbourhood is relatively quiet, although those who are around Highway 401 or the railway line may experience more noise.

Housing

Homeowners occupy roughly two thirds of the dwellings in St.Andrew-Windfields while the remainder are rented. In this neighbourhood, about half of dwellings are single detached homes, while large apartment buildings are also present in the housing stock. Roughly 45% of properties in this neighbourhood were built in the 1960s and 1970s, while most of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1990s.
