Northeast

Northeast is a neighbourhood within Mississauga, Ontario, which is situated in the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area.

Transportation

Driving is a great mode of transportation in Northeast. Most of the street network is well suited for cars, and coming across a place to park is generally easy. With plenty of rapid transit stations on the Meadowvale Express, and approximately 20 nearby bus lines, the public transit system in Northeast is also reasonably good. Moving around by bicycle is occasionally difficult in Northeast because the cycling network is not very extensive. Nevertheless, some pleasant pockets for bicycling can be found, and bike riders do not encounter serious hills. Walking is also not very popular in Northeast, even though meeting daily needs is easy by walking.

Services

In Northeast, parents and their kids will typically be able to access daycares and schools on foot. At the secondary level, both public and private schools can be found. Regarding eating, it is easy to get to the closest supermarket on foot from most properties for sale in this part of the city. Additionally, those who like to eat in restaurants will have a fair number of opportunities, and a small variety of cafes can be found as well.

Character

One of the highlights of Northeast is its great variety of green spaces. There are approximately 30 public green spaces nearby for residents to unwind in, like Not to Be Named *(Between 410 and Dixie North of Ordan Rd) and Wildfield Park, which results in them being very easy to access from many locations in this neighbourhood. This part of the city remains relatively quiet, thanks to the presence of few pedestrians, although there can be higher levels of noise for those who are near the airport (Tarten Heliport), one of the railway lines, Highway 409 or Highway 427.

Housing

Large apartment buildings are the most common housing type, representing around one third of buildings in Northeast, while the remainder are mainly single detached homes. This neighbourhood also has a good choice of unit sizes; houses range from lofts to four or more bedrooms. The proportions of renters and homeowners are about even. This part of the city did not experience a single building boom; the construction of new homes in this neighbourhood was spread throughout multiple decades in recent history.
