It is especially convenient to come across a place to park, and most real estate listings are a very short car ride from the nearest highway, such as Highway 403. On the other hand, the public transit system in this area is not very practical. Thankfully, the neighbourhood is connected by a few bus lines, and it is especially convenient to reach a nearby bus stop from most houses. It is inconvenient for pedestrians to move around in this area as very few daily errands can be run without having to use a car. Concerning education, in this area, parents and their kids will often be able to access primary schools on foot. However, high schools are not especially numerous and accordingly not always within walking distance. Residents benefit from public and private high schools.

Character

Shaver offers a broad selection of green spaces to enjoy. Green spaces, such as James Smith Park, are especially well-spread out and there are a few of them nearby for residents to visit, which results in them being easy to get to from a lot of locations in the neighbourhood. Finally, this part of Hamilton is relatively serene, thanks to the presence of very few people out and about on the streets.

Housing

In Shaver, roughly half of buildings are single detached homes, while duplexes are the main housing type in the rest of the housing stock. Most of the housing growth in this part of Hamilton has taken place after the year 2000. This neighbourhood offers mainly four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. Roughly 90% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home while the rest are renters.
