Transportation

Driving is very often the preferred mode of transportation in Shaver. The majority of homes for sale are a very short car ride from the nearest highway, such as Highway 403, and it is very convenient to park. However, the public transit network in Shaver is not very practical. Nonetheless, the neighbourhood is linked by a few bus lines, and bus stops are not very far away from most properties. Shaver is not very well-suited for those who travel by foot because running daily errands is difficult. Biking is also at times challenging in this part of the city as the cycling infrastructure is fairly poor, and there are quite a few slopes. Nonetheless, biking is more feasible in certain pockets than others.

Parents and their kids will appreciate the proximity to primary schools, which are within walking distance from the majority of homes for sale in Shaver. However, there are only a few high schools and thus they can be an extended walk away. At the secondary level, there are both public and private schools. In terms of eating, some, but not all, property owners in this area will reside within walking distance of the nearest grocery store. A limited number of restaurants are available in Shaver as well.

Character

Shaver offers a wide variety of green spaces to enjoy. Public green spaces, like James Smith Park, are especially well-distributed and there are a few of them close by for residents to relax in, making them easy to access. Due to the presence of very few pedestrians, this part of the city is relatively serene.

Housing

In Shaver, around half of dwellings are single detached homes, while the rest are mainly duplexes. Most homes in this neighbourhood were built following the year 2000, during its most significant construction boom. This part of the city also has a choice of unit sizes - this neighbourhood is especially good for those looking for three bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy roughly 90% of the dwellings in Shaver and renters occupy the remainder.
