City Centre

Part of the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area, City Centre is a neighbourhood within Pickering, Ontario.

Transportation

This area will draw property owners that appreciate different modes of transportation. This area is reasonably transit friendly. There is the Pickering on the Lakeshore East. The neighbourhood is connected by about 10 bus lines, and bus stops are not very far away from most properties. City Centre is also quite suitable for walking; carrying out daily needs is convenient, and there are also a fair number of businesses close by. It is occasionally challenging to travel by bicycle in City Centre as there are a limited number of bike lanes, and the terrain is not particularly flat. Nonetheless, some bicycling-friendly sectors can be found.

Services

It is a short walk to reach daycares and primary schools from most properties for sale in City Centre. However, this neighbourhood does not have any high schools. Regarding food, a supermarket is generally reachable within a short walk from any home in City Centre. Additionally, there is often a restaurant or cafe just around the corner. Residents have access to a fair number of nearby clothing stores.

Character

People who prefer a slower-paced environment will enjoy City Centre. City Centre is reasonably quiet, as there are generally low levels of noise from traffic - although there are still several noisier areas, especially near one of the railway lines or Highway 401. Even though the ambience is not the liveliest in this area, its main streets can still be quite energetic. Parks aren't well-distributed, which makes it very difficult to get to them.

Housing

In City Centre, about two thirds of buildings are large apartment buildings, and the rest of the homes are mainly small apartment buildings. This part of Pickering is primarily composed of three bedroom and two bedroom homes. Around 70% of the properties in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and the rest are rented. This neighbourhood did not experience a single building boom; the construction of new buildings in City Centre was spread throughout multiple decades in recent history.
