Brookside

Brookside is a community within Halifax, Nova Scotia, which is located in the Greater Halifax metropolitan area.

Transportation

This community is an extremely good part of Halifax for driving. It is very easy to park. It is very inconvenient for pedestrians to get around in Brookside because almost no common errands can be run on foot. Biking is also difficult in this part of the municipality because there are a fair number of elevation changes to challenge cyclists, and the cycling infrastructure is not very well-developed.

Services

Brookside does not contain any high schools or primary schools. Likewise, daycares are not abundant and thus not always within walking distance. In terms of food, in all but a very small number of cases, a car is needed in this area to access the nearest supermarket. Residents of this part of Halifax can enjoy a few restaurants.

Character

The character of Brookside is exemplified by its calm atmosphere. There are a few public green spaces nearby for residents to check out, including Lynwood Drive Park, which makes them easy to get to. This part of the municipality is also excellent for those who like quiet surroundings, as the streets tend to be especially calm.

Housing

Homeowners occupy roughly 95% of the units in the community whereas the rest are rented. The housing stock of this part of Halifax is composed predominantly of single detached homes and townhouses. Roughly 30% of homes in this community were constructed in the 1960s and 1970s, while most of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1980s. This area is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes.
