Westmount

Westmount is a neighbourhood within West Vancouver, British Columbia, which is located in the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area.

Transportation

This neighbourhood is an extremely good part of West Vancouver for moving around by car. Finding a place to park is easy, and the majority of properties for sale are a short drive from the closest highway, such as Trans-Canada Highway. However, the public transit system in this part of the municipality is not very convenient. Nevertheless, property owners are served by a few bus lines, and bus stops are not very far away from most houses. Many of the homes for sale in this part of West Vancouver are located in areas that are not very suitable for walking since carrying out daily needs is challenging on foot. Westmount is also not very cycling-friendly as there are few bike lanes, and riding is rendered strenuous by the typically steep topography.

Services

Parents and their children will welcome the proximity to primary schools and daycares, which are within walking distance from vast majority homes for sale in this part of West Vancouver. However, there are no high schools in Westmount. With respect to food, in all cases, a vehicle is needed to shop for groceries.

Character

The character of Westmount is exemplified by its relaxed environment. Most areas in this neighbourhood are very quiet, as noise from streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue near Trans-Canada Highway or the railway line. Lastly, there are a few parks nearby for residents to discover and they are very well-situated, which makes them very easy to get to.

Housing

Single detached homes and townhouses are the predominant housing type in Westmount. Around 30% of properties in this area were constructed between 1960 and 1980, while most of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 2000s. Although this part of West Vancouver is particularly good for those looking for four or more bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy about 80% of the units in Westmount and the remainder are rented.
