The neighbourhood of Whonnock is part of the city of Maple Ridge, British Columbia, which is located in the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area.

Transportation

Driving is an excellent transportation option in Whonnock. Parking is generally easy. It is at times challenging to commute by bicycle in Whonnock as the cycling network is quite poor, and there is a significant amount of elevation changes. It is also very impractical for pedestrians to move around in this neighbourhood as almost no day-to-day needs can be carried out without having to resort to a vehicle.

Services

There are only a very small number of primary schools in this neighbourhood and accordingly they can be a very long walk away. Additionally, this part of the city does not contain any high schools. When it comes to food, in all cases, a vehicle is needed in Whonnock to reach the closest grocery store.

Character

Whonnock is a great neighbourhood to buy a house in for those who prefer a relaxed atmosphere. This part of Maple Ridge is especially quiet overall, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour. Finally, it is easy to reach public green spaces in the neighbourhood, since there are a few of them nearby for residents to enjoy and most houses have a park a short walk away.

Housing

Roughly 85% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home whereas the rest are renters. Single detached homes are the predominant housing type, representing most dwellings in this part of the city, while the remainder are mainly duplexes. Roughly 30% of properties in this area were constructed in the 1960s and 1970s, while many of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1980s. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes.
