The neighbourhood of Whonnock is part of the city of Maple Ridge, British Columbia, which is situated in the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area.

Transportation

Driving is a great transportation option in this neighbourhood. It is very convenient to come across a place to park. The bicycle is a somewhat poor mode of transportation in this part of the city as the cycling network is not very well-developed, and there is a considerable amount of slopes. Most homes for sale in this neighbourhood are located in areas that are also not very conducive to walking as most daily needs are very inconvenient to meet on foot.

Services

It is very rarely feasible for property owners in Whonnock to access the nearest supermarket on foot. With respect to education, there are only a very small number of primary schools in this part of Maple Ridge and accordingly they can be a very long walk away. Additionally, Whonnock does not have any high schools.

Character

Whonnock is a wonderful neighbourhood to buy a house in for those who prefer a slower-paced environment. This part of the city is very quiet, as the streets are generally especially calm. Finally, it is easy to get to green spaces from most locations in the neighbourhood, since there are a few of them close by for residents to discover, like Whonnock Lake and Bell Irving Hatchery.

Housing

Around 30% of homes in Whonnock were built in the 1960s and 1970s, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s. The sizeable proportion of single detached homes in the housing stock of this area is an important part of its character. Around 85% of the units in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners while the rest are rented. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes.
