It is convenient for people travelling on foot to move around in Westview; running common errands is easy by walking, and plenty of businesses are quite nearby. When it comes to eating, both general and specialty grocery stores are ordinarily accessible within a short walk from anywhere in this area. Furthermore, this part of City of North Vancouver is a good place in which to go out to eat or go to a cafe.

The character of Westview is exemplified by its calm atmosphere. It is very easy to get to parks in the neighbourhood since there are a few of them close by for residents to enjoy. This part of the city is also quiet, as there are low levels of noise from traffic - although that is not the case around Trans-Canada Highway.

In Westview, about 30% of buildings are small apartment buildings, while duplexes and single detached homes are the main alternatives in the housing stock. This area is primarily composed of two bedroom and three bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy around 70% of the units in the neighbourhood and the rest are rented. About 40% of properties in this area were built in the 1960s and 1970s, while many of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 2000s.
