The neighbourhood of Gay Village can be found in the city of Montréal, Quebec, which is located in the Greater Montreal metropolitan area.

Transportation

Gay Village is an excellent part of Montréal when it comes to getting around without a car. This neighbourhood benefits from a great public transit infrastructure thanks to many nearby rapid transit stations on the Ligne 4 - Jaune, Ligne 1 - Verte and Ligne 2 - Orange, and about 10 nearby bus lines. Many of the houses for sale in this area are located in places that are also especially suitable for those who travel by foot; meeting day-to-day needs is very convenient by walking, and numerous businesses are very nearby. Bicycling is very prevalent in Gay Village because the bicycling infrastructure is quite extensive, there is usually a bike-share station nearby, and the topography is quite flat.

A general and a specialty grocery store is always only a very short walk away in Gay Village. Likewise, there are approximately 40 restaurants and a few coffee shops to enjoy in this area. Gay Village is a "jack-of-all-trades" when it comes to the feel of this neighbourhood. Most areas in Gay Village are reasonably quiet, as there are generally low levels of noise from traffic. This neighbourhood also features a small amount of greenery; more specifically, residents will find that few tree-lined streets are present. However, there are about 20 public green spaces close by for residents to enjoy and they are especially well-spread out, which results in them being very easy to get to from numerous locations within Gay Village. Finally, there are a very large number of things to do in this part of the city to check out. The streets are almost always busy with people, there is an extensive selection of entertainment venues, and it is very easy to find bars because they are well-distributed throughout the area.

Housing

The substantial percentage of small apartment buildings in the housing stock of Gay Village is an important part of its character. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of two bedroom and one bedroom homes. Around three quarters of the properties in the neighbourhood are occupied by renters while the rest are occupied by owners.
