Transportation

No matter the means of transportation, it is very easy to get around in this part of Montréal. The public transit network in Centre-Sud is very convenient owing to plenty of nearby rapid transit stations with access to the Ligne 4 - Jaune, Ligne 2 - Orange and Ligne 1 - Verte, and about 30 nearby bus lines. Travelling on foot is also especially feasible for property owners in Centre-Sud; carrying out daily needs is very easy on foot, and a good number of businesses of different types can be found as well. Cycling is very popular in Centre-Sud since the bicycling network is quite comprehensive, there is usually a bike-share station in proximity, and bicycling is facilitated by the generally flat terrain.

Services

A general and a specialty grocery store is always only a short walk away in Centre-Sud. Rue Sainte-Catherine is among the best streets for food stores. Furthermore, owing to over 50 restaurants and around 10 coffee shops, this part of Montréal is a fairly good area in which to eat out, for example on Rue Saint-Denis. Character

No matter what type of character home buyers prefer in a neighbourhood, Centre-Sud is a fairly good option. There are a very large number of things to do in this area to enjoy. The streets are almost always busy with people, a wide variety of entertainment venues can be found nearby, and with its around 30 bars, it is very easy to find a place to grab a drink since they are generally located around the corner. Centre-Sud is quiet overall, as the streets tend to be reasonably tranquil, however some parts can be quite noisy, especially around one of the railway lines or Autoroute Ville-Marie. Greenery is quite prominent in this area as the tree canopy coverage for a lot of streets is good. Most locations within the neighbourhood have reasonably good access to public green spaces, such as Parc des Faubourgs, since there are over 50 of them close by for residents to visit.

Housing

Most buildings are small apartment buildings, making it easy to find apartments in Centre-Sud, but large apartment buildings are also present in the housing stock. About 40% of properties in this neighbourhood were built pre-1960, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 2000s. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of two bedroom and one bedroom homes. Around three quarters of the dwellings in the neighbourhood are occupied by renters whereas owners occupy the remainder.
