Transportation

Driving is a very good means of transportation in Barwick Island. Parking is easy. However, travelling by public transit is very hard in Barwick Island. The bicycle is a somewhat poor mode of transportation in Barwick Island as the cycling infrastructure is not very well-developed. Nonetheless, much of the topography is relatively flat. Walking is also not very practical for residents in this neighbourhood since running daily errands is at times difficult on foot.

Services

It is a reasonably short walk to reach both primary and secondary schools from any location in this part of the city. However, it can be very hard to access daycares as a pedestrian. Regarding food, it is very rarely an option for house buyers in this part of Montréal to purchase groceries on foot.

Character

Barwick Island is a great neighbourhood to buy a house in for those who prefer a relaxed ambience. There is a lot of greenery in this part of the city as many tree-lined streets are around. Although the neighbourhood is not home to any parks, green spaces are especially well-situated in nearby neighbourhoods, which makes it easy to reach them from numerous locations within Barwick Island. Most areas in this neighbourhood are especially quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour.

Housing

Roughly 60% of the properties in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners while the remainder are rented. The predominance of large apartment buildings in the housing stock of this neighbourhood is an important part of its character.
