Part of the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area, The Elms is a neighbourhood within Toronto, Ontario.

Transportation

The Elms affords home buyers the choice between various methods of transportation. The public transit service in The Elms is good. For example, house owners are served by a few bus lines, and bus stops are not very far-removed from most residences. Travelling on foot is also practical for home buyers in The Elms; many common errands can be run without needing to resort to a car. The Elms is reasonably bike-friendly.

It is very convenient to access the nearest grocery store by walking from most homes for sale in The Elms. Additionally, this neighbourhood is a fairly good place in which to eat out, and there are also a few coffee shops in The Elms. When it comes to education, daycares and schools are very easy to walk to from most properties for sale in this part of Toronto. Residents have the choice between public and private primary schools.

Character

The character of The Elms is exemplified by its calm atmosphere. This part of the city features a good amount of greenery as numerous tree-lined streets are present. There are approximately 10 green spaces close by for residents to visit, like Summerlea Park and Humber Valley Golf Course, and they are very well-spread out, resulting in them being very easy to reach from most locations in the neighbourhood. This neighbourhood is also fairly good for those who enjoy a quiet atmosphere, as there are generally low levels of noise from traffic - although there are still several noisier sections, especially closer to Highway 401.

Housing

About 45% of dwellings are large apartment buildings, making it easy to find apartments in The Elms, and the remainder are mainly single detached homes. About half of properties in this area were built between 1960 and 1980, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of two bedroom and three bedroom homes. The population residing in this area is evenly split between owners and renters.
