Mimico

Mimico is a neighbourhood within Toronto, Ontario, which is situated in the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area.

Transportation

Regardless of the medium of transportation, it is quite simple to travel in Mimico. This area is a fairly pleasant part of Toronto for pedestrians; many daily needs are convenient to carry out on foot. Mimico is also quite conducive to biking. The public transit service in this neighbourhood is reasonably good due to Mimico with access to the Lakeshore West, and a few nearby bus lines. This area is also reasonably car friendly. It is a rather short car ride to the nearest highway, such as F G Gardiner Expressway, from any location in Mimico, and it is convenient to find a place to park.

Services

It is very often an option for house buyers in Mimico to do their grocery shopping by walking. Additionally, those who like to dine in restaurants will have a good number of opportunities, and there are also a few cafes in this neighbourhood. With respect to education, families will appreciate the proximity to primary schools and daycares, which are within walking distance from all homes for sale in Mimico. In contrast, there are no high schools in this part of the city. Parents are served by public and private primary schools.

Character

The character of Mimico is exemplified by its slower-paced environment. This part of Toronto is reasonably good for those who enjoy quiet surroundings, as there are usually low levels of noise from traffic - although there are still several louder sections, especially near F G Gardiner Expressway or the railway line. Finally, greenery is quite present in this part of the city as there are numerous tree-lined streets. Public green spaces are very easy to access since there are about 20 of them nearby for residents to unwind in.

Housing

About 60% of the population of this neighbourhood rent their home while the rest are owners. In this area, about one third of dwellings are small apartment buildings, while large apartment buildings and single detached homes are the main housing types in the rest of the housing stock. Roughly 45% of properties in this part of the city were built pre-1960, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 2000s. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of two bedroom and one bedroom homes.
