The neighbourhood of Downsview is part of the city of Toronto, Ontario, which is situated in the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area.

Transportation

Regardless of the means of transportation, it is quite straightforward to move around in this neighbourhood. This part of the city is convenient for those who travel by foot; running daily errands is easy. The bicycle is a good mode of transportation in this part of the city. This area is reasonably transit friendly. There is Downsview Park Station - Northbound Platform and Downsview Park Station - Southbound Platform on the Line 1 (Yonge-University). There is the Downsview Park on the Barrie. The neighbourhood is connected by around 20 bus lines, and bus stops are generally nearby. Driving is also a very good transportation option in Downsview. The majority of homes for sale are a rather short drive from the nearest highway, such as Highway 401, and it is easy to come across a place to park.

Services

Home buyers in this area will appreciate that a grocery store is always only a rather short walk away. Likewise, a restaurant is often just around the corner, and there are also a few coffee shops in Downsview. When it comes to education, in this area, parents and their kids will usually be able to reach daycares and schools by walking. Apart from public schools, there are private primary and high schools.

Character

The character of Downsview is exemplified by its slower-paced environment. There is a fair amount of greenery in this neighbourhood as the tree canopy coverage for many streets is good. Public green spaces, like Chalkfarm Park and Oakdale Golf and Country Club, are very well-spread out and there are approximately 30 of them nearby for residents to check out, making it very easy to reach them. This neighbourhood is quiet overall, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour - although that is not the case closer to Highway 401, Highway 400 or the railway line.

Housing

In Downsview, about 30% of dwellings are large apartment buildings, and the rest are mainly small apartment buildings, single detached homes, and townhouses. This neighbourhood also has a good choice of housing sizes; homes range from lofts to four or more bedrooms. The proportions of homeowners and renters are about even. About one third of homes in this area were constructed between 1960 and 1980, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 2000s.
