Corkery

Located within the Ottawa - Gatineau metropolitan area, Corkery is a neighbourhood in Ottawa, Ontario.

Transportation

The best transportation option in Corkery is very often a car. Parking is generally easy. Corkery is not very conducive to bicycling because there are a good number of elevation changes, and there are very few bike lanes. It is also very challenging for pedestrians to get around in this part of Ottawa because carrying out daily needs is nearly impossible.

Services

Doing one's groceries very often necessitates the use of a vehicle in Corkery. As far as education is concerned, there are only a very small number of primary schools in this neighbourhood and consequently they can be a very long walk away. In addition, Corkery does not contain any high schools.

Character

Corkery offers a relaxed ambience. Corkery is very quiet overall, as there are generally low levels of noise from traffic - although there are still several noisier areas, especially closer to Highway 417 or Highway 7. The majority of locations within the neighbourhood have reasonably good access to green spaces, such as Rick Lytle Park, since they are sparse. Still, there are a few parks nearby for residents to enjoy.

Housing

In Corkery, almost all buildings are single detached homes, while the rest are mainly townhouses. This part of the city is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. Roughly 95% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home and renters make up the remainder. This part of the city did not experience a single building boom; the construction of new dwellings in Corkery was spread throughout multiple decades in recent history.
