Corkery

The neighbourhood of Corkery is part of the city of Ottawa, Ontario, which is situated in the Ottawa - Gatineau metropolitan area.

Transportation

The car is usually the preferred approach to get around in this part of Ottawa. It is especially convenient to park. This part of the city is not very bike-friendly because the cycling infrastructure is quite poor, and there are a good number of slopes for cyclists to brave. It is also very inconvenient for pedestrians to navigate this area as running daily errands is practically impossible on foot.

Services

There are only a very small number of primary schools in Corkery and consequently they can be a very long walk away. Likewise, this part of the city does not contain any high schools. As far as eating is concerned, it is very rarely possible for property owners in Corkery to buy their groceries on foot.

Character

People who prefer a slower-paced environment will enjoy Corkery. Corkery is very quiet, as the streets tend to be very tranquil - although that is not the case closer to Highway 417 or Highway 7. Parks are distributed sporadically, making it very difficult to get to them from the majority of locations within the neighbourhood. Still, there are a few public green spaces close by for residents to explore, such as Rick Lytle Park.

Housing

Corkery did not experience a single building boom; the construction of new buildings in the neighbourhood was spread throughout several decades in recent history. The sizeable proportion of single detached homes in the housing stock of this neighbourhood is an important part of its character. Homeowners occupy roughly 95% of the properties in Corkery and 5% are rented. This part of the city offers mainly four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes.
