Westlane

The neighbourhood of Westlane can be found in the city of Niagara Falls, Ontario, which is situated in the St. Catharines - Niagara metropolitan area.

Transportation

Driving is a great medium of transportation in this area. It is especially convenient to park, and the majority of homes for sale are a reasonably short drive from the closest highway, such as Highway 420. In contrast, the public transit service in this neighbourhood is not very frequent. Nonetheless, there are about 10 bus lines, and bus stops are not very far away from most homes. Westlane is not especially suited for biking since there are few bike lanes. Nevertheless, some enjoyable sectors for cycling exist, and there are a limited number of hills. It is also occasionally difficult for people walking to get around in this part of the city as few daily errands can be run without needing to use a car.

Services

Getting to the closest supermarket by walking is an option for some, but not all, home buyers in Westlane. A limited number of restaurants and cafes are available as well. When it comes to education, it is a rather short walk to access schools and daycares from most homes for sale in Westlane.

Character

The character of Westlane is exemplified by its relaxed atmosphere. Most areas in this neighbourhood are quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour - although that is not the case closer to one of the railway lines, Queen Elizabeth Way or Highway 420. Finally, parks, such as Millennium Recreational Trail Lands - John McAll MacBain Pathway and Charnwood Park, are very well-spread out and there are approximately 10 of them nearby for residents to unwind in, making it easy to access them.

Housing

The predominance of single detached homes in the housing stock of Westlane is an important part of its character. Around 30% of properties in this neighbourhood were built after the year 2000, while many of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1960s. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. Roughly 70% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home and 30% are renters.
