Transportation

This neighbourhood features a fairly good public transit infrastructure owing to many rapid transit stations on the Meadowvale Express, and about 20 nearby bus lines. However, travelling by bicycle is at times challenging in Northeast as the bicycling network is not very extensive. Nonetheless, riding a bicycle is made easier by the generally flat terrain, and some bike-friendly sectors exist. There are relatively few pedestrians out on the streets of Northeast, despite the fact that running common errands is convenient. However, Northeast is very car friendly. Most of the street infrastructure is appropriate for cars, and nearby highways, such as Highway 409, are very easy to reach from anywhere in this part of Mississauga.

Services

It is convenient to access the nearest grocery store on foot in this part of the city. Moreover, Northeast is a good place in which to eat out, for example along Eglinton Avenue, and a limited variety of coffee shops is available as well. With regards to education, schools and daycares are convenient to reach on foot from any location in Northeast. At the secondary level, both public and private schools can be found.

Character

There is a broad selection of green spaces in Northeast. There are approximately 30 public green spaces nearby for residents to explore, including Not to Be Named *(East of Tomken Rd Between Ambler Dr and Eastgate Pkwy) and Mount Charles Park, making it very easy to get to them. This part of the city is relatively quiet, as there are few pedestrians, although those who are near Highway 403, Highway 427, one of the railway lines or the airport (Tarten Heliport) may experience higher levels of noise.

Housing

In Northeast, around one third of buildings are large apartment buildings, while single detached homes are the main housing type in the rest of the housing stock. This area also has a good selection of housing sizes; it is quite easy to find homes ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. The split between homeowners and renters is about even. This part of the city did not experience a single building boom; the construction of new dwellings in Northeast was spread throughout several decades in recent history.
