Victoria North

Victoria North is a neighbourhood within Kitchener, Ontario, which is situated in the Kitchener - Cambridge - Waterloo metropolitan area.

Transportation

Victoria North is very car friendly. It is especially convenient to find a place to park, and it is a very short car ride to the closest highway, such as Highway 85, from anywhere in this neighbourhood. However, the public transit service in Victoria North is not very frequent. Nonetheless, the neighbourhood is linked by a few bus lines, and most houses are very close to a bus stop. Despite the fact that biking is better in certain sectors than others, and it is an even ride to most destinations, getting around by bicycle is difficult in this part of Kitchener as the bicycling infrastructure is not especially well-developed. Travelling by foot in Victoria North is also not very popular, even though many daily errands can be run without the use of a vehicle.

Services

It is very rarely feasible for home buyers in this neighbourhood to do groceries on foot. Nonetheless, reaching the nearest pharmacy and consequently some basic food items is generally convenient. There are also around 10 restaurants and cafes in this area. When it comes to education, there are no high schools and no primary schools in this part of the city. Furthermore, daycares are not particularly numerous and thus tend to require a rather long walk to get to.

Character

There are a lot of green spaces to enjoy in Victoria North. It is easy to reach green spaces from the majority of locations in the neighbourhood since there are a few of them close by for residents to relax in. Finally, this area is a great area for those who aren't bothered by a bit of noise, as during busier hours of the day, traffic can occasionally be bothersome.

Housing

A majority of the housing growth in Victoria North took place pre-1960. In this part of Kitchener, about 45% of dwellings are single detached homes, but small apartment buildings are also present in the housing stock. Around 55% of the units in the neighbourhood are occupied by renters and owners occupy the remainder. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of three bedroom and two bedroom homes.
