The neighbourhood of Summit can be found in the city of Hamilton, Ontario, which is situated in the Greater Hamilton metropolitan area.

Transportation

Cars are an excellent transportation option in Summit. It is very convenient to access a parking spot, and many real estate listings are a very short car ride from the closest highway, such as Highway 403. The bicycle is a rather poor means of transportation in Summit since there are very few bike lanes, and bicycling is rendered arduous by the typically steep topography. Many of the houses for sale in this neighbourhood are located in places that are also not very conducive to those who travel by foot because very few daily needs can be carried out by walking.

Services

Property owners in Summit almost always have to use a vehicle to buy their groceries. In terms of education, this part of Hamilton does not have any high schools or primary schools.

Character

Summit is a reasonably good neighbourhood to buy a house in for those who prefer a slower-paced atmosphere. Summit is quiet overall, as the streets are generally calm - however some areas can be quite loud, especially near Highway 403. Parks aren't well-distributed, which makes it rather challenging to access them. Still, residents will be able to access public green spaces in nearby neighbourhoods.

Single detached homes are the most common housing type, representing roughly 70% of dwellings in Summit, and the rest of the dwellings are mainly mobile homes. This area has a good variety of unit sizes, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. Nearly 95% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home while the rest are renters. About 30% of homes in this neighbourhood were constructed before the 1960s, while the majority of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1990s.
