Ancaster is a former municipality within Hamilton, Ontario, which is located in the Greater Hamilton metropolitan area.

Transportation

The car is very often the best method to get around in Ancaster. Parking is easy, and many houses for sale are a reasonably short drive from the closest highway, such as Highway 403. On the other hand, the public transit service in Ancaster is not very frequent. Nonetheless, house owners have access to a few bus lines, and bus stops are not very far from most properties. This part of the city is not very convenient for walking as very few common errands can be run without needing to resort to a vehicle. In contrast, it is convenient to get around by bicycle in Ancaster.

The homes in this area are very new, because roughly 40% of its dwellings were built after the year 2000, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1960s. In this part of Hamilton, around three quarters of dwellings are single detached homes, and the rest are mainly large apartment buildings.
