Situated within the Greater Hamilton metropolitan area, Ancaster is a former municipality in Hamilton, Ontario.

Transportation

The car is very often the favoured transportation option in Ancaster. It is very convenient to park, and most homes for sale are a rather short drive from the closest highway, such as Highway 403. In contrast, this part of the city is not very transit friendly. Nevertheless, homeowners benefit from a few bus lines, and it is especially convenient to reach a nearby bus stop from most residences. Ancaster is reasonably suited for bicycling. A majority of the houses for sale in this former municipality are located in places that are not very conducive to those who travel by foot because very few common errands can be run without the use of a car.

Primary schools are very easy to access on foot from anywhere in this former municipality. On the other hand, it can be very hard to walk to high schools from homes for sale in this part of the city. In addition to public schools, there are private primary and secondary schools. Most areas in this part of Hamilton are very quiet, as the streets are generally very tranquil close to Lincoln M Alexander Parkway, Highway 403 or the railway line.

In Ancaster, most dwellings are single detached homes, while the rest are mainly large apartment buildings. This former municipality offers mainly three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes.
