Situated within the Greater Hamilton metropolitan area, Allison is a neighbourhood in Hamilton, Ontario.

Transportation

This area is a very good part of Hamilton for getting around by car. It is convenient to park, and nearby highways are quite easy to reach from anywhere in Allison. However, the public transit service in Allison is not very frequent. Nonetheless, there are a few bus lines crossing the neighbourhood, and bus stops are commonly nearby. Allison is not particularly amenable to cycling since there are a fair number of elevation changes for cyclists to brave, and there are few bike lanes. There are also relatively few pedestrians out on the streets of this part of the city, although running day-to-day errands is easy by walking.

Services

In this neighbourhood, families will usually be able to reach daycares and primary schools on foot. On the other hand, Allison does not have any high schools. With respect to food, it is typically possible for home buyers in this part of the city to buy their groceries on foot. There are also a limited number of opportunities for those who appreciate close by restaurants.

Character

The character of Allison is exemplified by its relaxed environment. It is easy to access parks since there are a few of them close by for residents to unwind in. This area is also great for those who like a quiet atmosphere, as noise from the streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue.

Housing

The large proportion of single detached homes in the housing stock of Allison is an important part of its character. About one third of properties in this neighbourhood were built in the 1990s, while many of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 2000s. This part of Hamilton offers mainly four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. Roughly 95% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home and renters make up the remainder.
