Orono

Orono is a neighbourhood within Clarington, Ontario, which is situated in the Greater Oshawa metropolitan area.

Transportation

Cars are an excellent medium of transportation in Orono. It is especially convenient to park, and nearby highways, such as Highway 35 & 115, are very easy to drive to from any location in this part of Clarington. However, public transit riders may have few options in this area as a result of the infrequent service. Nonetheless, house owners benefit from a few bus lines, and the closest bus stop is usually very close. Orono is not very suitable for those who travel by foot as carrying out day-to-day needs is inconvenient. Orono is also not particularly bicycling-friendly as there are very few bike lanes, and the terrain is not very flat.

Services

It is a reasonably short walk to access primary schools from most properties for sale in Orono. In contrast, this area does not contain any high schools. With respect to eating, purchasing one's groceries usually requires the use of a car in Orono. Nevertheless, getting to the closest pharmacy and consequently some basic food items is typically very easy. There are also a few options for those who appreciate nearby restaurants.

Character

People who prefer a slower-paced environment will enjoy Orono. Orono is reasonably quiet overall, as noise from the streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue - although that is not the case close to Highway 35 & 115.

A majority of the houses available in the housing market in Orono were built prior to the 1960s, when a large proportion of the housing growth occurred. In this neighbourhood, the vast majority of dwellings are single detached homes, while the remainder are mainly small apartment buildings. This part of the municipality has a good choice of housing size options, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms.
