Tangier

Tangier is a community within Halifax, Nova Scotia, which is situated in the Greater Halifax metropolitan area.

Transportation

The preferred approach to navigate Tangier is very often driving. It is very convenient to come across a place to park. This part of the municipality is not very appropriate for bicycling because the area is not especially flat, and the cycling infrastructure is not very well-developed. Tangier is also not very suitable for those who travel by foot because almost no common errands can be run on foot.

Services

In all but a very small number of cases, a vehicle is required in Tangier to access the closest grocery store. Regarding education, there are no high schools and no primary schools in this community.

Character

Tangier is a fairly good community to buy a house in for those who prefer a slower-paced atmosphere. Tangier is quiet, as the streets are usually calm. Public green spaces aren't well-situated, making them very hard to reach from a lot of locations within this part of the municipality. Still, there are a few parks close by for residents to unwind in.

Housing

Single detached homes and townhouses are the predominant housing type in Tangier. Around one third of homes in this community were built before the 1960s, while most of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1980s. This part of the municipality is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. Nearly 90% of the dwellings in the community are occupied by homeowners and 10% are rented.
