Sunnyside is a neighbourhood within Halifax, Nova Scotia, which is located in the Greater Halifax metropolitan area.

Transportation

Sunnyside is a fairly pleasant part of Halifax for pedestrians; many common errands can be run without the use of a vehicle. However, Sunnyside is not especially conducive to biking because there are quite a few elevation changes, and there are a limited number of bike lanes. Public transit riders may find few choices in Sunnyside by reason of the low service level. Thankfully, the neighbourhood is connected by a few bus lines, and bus stops are not very far away from most residences. However, the car is very often the best method to navigate Sunnyside. Parking is generally easy, and many properties for sale are a short drive from the nearest highway.

Services

In Sunnyside, families will almost always be able to get to secondary schools and daycares by walking. However, this part of the municipality does not contain any primary schools. With respect to eating, a supermarket is generally reachable within a very short walk from most houses for sale in Sunnyside. In addition, property owners won't have to go far to take advantage of the nearest cafe, and a limited variety of restaurants can be found in Sunnyside as well.

In Sunnyside, the majority of buildings are single detached homes, and the remaining dwellings are mainly small apartment buildings. This neighbourhood offers mainly three bedroom and two bedroom homes. Roughly 60% of the units in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners whereas the rest are rented. About one quarter of homes in this part of the municipality were built between 1960 and 1980, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s.
