The community of Shearwater can be found in the municipality of Halifax, Nova Scotia, which is located in the Greater Halifax metropolitan area.

Transportation

Shearwater is an extremely good part of Halifax for driving. It is very convenient to park. On the other hand, the public transit system in Shearwater is rather poor. Nonetheless, residents benefit from a few bus lines, and bus stops are commonly nearby. This part of Halifax is not particularly conducive to cycling as bicycling is made difficult by the typically hilly terrain, and the cycling network is not very extensive. Thankfully, a fair number of residents decide to move around by bike. It is also very impractical for pedestrians to navigate Shearwater because running daily errands is inconvenient.

Services

Shearwater does not have any high schools or primary schools. In addition, daycares are not numerous and therefore tend to require a very long walk to get to. In terms of food, home buyers in Shearwater almost always have to rely on a car to travel to the closest supermarket. That being said, a cafe is commonly just around the corner.

Character

Shearwater is a community to buy a house in for those who prefer a laid-back environment. Shearwater can be relatively noisy, since can be a major source of noise. Green spaces aren't well-spread out, making it sometimes hard to get to them from many locations within this community. Despite that, residents will be able to access parks in nearby communities.

The predominant housing types in Shearwater are single detached homes and townhouses. This community also has a choice of unit sizes - there is a higher proportion of three bedroom homes in this area.
