Enfield

Part of the Greater Halifax metropolitan area, Enfield is a community within Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Transportation

The car is very often the best method to get around in Enfield. It is a short car ride to the nearest highway from any location in this community, and parking is quite easy. The bike is a fairly poor means of transportation in Enfield because there are a good number of hills for cyclists to brave, and there are very few bike lanes. It is also very difficult for pedestrians to get around in Enfield since carrying out daily needs is challenging by walking.

Services

There are only a limited number of primary schools in Enfield and therefore they can be an extended walk away. Additionally, this part of Halifax does not contain any high schools. Furthermore, parents and their kids may find it very difficult to access daycares as a pedestrian. In terms of food, it is very rarely an option for property owners in this area to travel to the nearest grocery store on foot. A small variety of restaurants can be found in Enfield.

Character

Enfield offers a calm atmosphere. Enfield is reasonably quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour - although that is not the case near the railway line. Parks aren't well-spread out, making them rather challenging to get to. Despite that, there are a few public green spaces nearby for residents to visit.

Housing

The large percentage of single detached homes in the housing stock of Enfield is an important part of its character. This community is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. Roughly 95% of the properties in the community are occupied by homeowners whereas the remainder are rented. This area did not experience a single construction boom; the construction of new buildings in Enfield was spread throughout several decades in the twentieth and twenty-first century.
