Part of the Cape Breton metropolitan area, Long Island is a community within Cape Breton Municipality, Nova Scotia.

Transportation

This part of the municipality is especially car friendly. Accessing a parking spot is generally easy. This part of the municipality is not very convenient for walking because meeting daily needs is almost impossible on foot. It is also very difficult to travel by bike in Long Island since the bicycling network is not very comprehensive, and the topography is not particularly flat.

Services

Buying one's groceries usually demands the use of a vehicle in this part of Cape Breton Municipality. With regards to education, there are no high schools and no primary schools in Long Island.

Character

Long Island is an excellent community to buy a house in for those who prefer a relaxed atmosphere. This part of Cape Breton Municipality is especially quiet overall, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour. Lastly, although Long Island is not home to any public green spaces, parks are well-located in nearby communities, making them very easy to access.
