Part of the Cape Breton metropolitan area, Irish Cove is a community within Cape Breton Municipality, Nova Scotia.

Transportation

The car is usually the best way to move around in Irish Cove. Parking is generally easy. It is very challenging for pedestrians to navigate this area as running daily errands is practically impossible. Irish Cove is also not very bike-friendly since there are very few bike lanes, and there are quite a few slopes.

Services

Irish Cove does not have any high schools or primary schools. With regards to eating, in all but a very small number of cases, a car is needed in this community to reach the closest supermarket.

Character

The character of Irish Cove is exemplified by its relaxed environment. This part of the municipality is reasonably quiet, as the streets are peaceful. Finally, although Irish Cove does not contain any parks, public green spaces are few and far between in nearby communities, resulting in them being easy to access from the majority of locations in the community.

Housing

Single detached homes are the main housing type, representing the overwhelming majority of buildings in Irish Cove. This part of Cape Breton Municipality is primarily composed of three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes. Roughly all of the units in the community are occupied by homeowners while the remainder are rented. A small minority of homes in this community were constructed prior to the 1960s.
