Florence

Situated within the Cape Breton metropolitan area, Florence is a community in Cape Breton Municipality, Nova Scotia.

Transportation

Driving is a great transportation option in Florence. It is very easy to park. This community is not very amenable to biking because there are a fair number of slopes to challenge cyclists, and the bicycling infrastructure is quite poor. It is also very impractical for pedestrians to get around in Florence since very few day-to-day needs can be met without the use of a vehicle.

Services

There are only a few primary schools in this community and therefore they can be a long walk away. In addition, this part of the municipality does not have any high schools. Moreover, parents and their kids may find it difficult to access daycares as a pedestrian. Concerning eating, home buyers in this area almost always need a car to purchase their groceries. However, a cafe is usually a rather short walk away, and residents of Florence can enjoy a few restaurants.

Character

People who prefer a relaxed atmosphere will enjoy Florence. The noise levels in this part of the municipality are very low, as the streets are usually very tranquil. Lastly, there are a few parks nearby for residents to relax in and they are very well-distributed, making them easy to get to.

Housing

The buildings in this part of the municipality are quite old, since around 40% of its dwellings were constructed before the 1960s, while many of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1980s. Single detached homes and townhouses are the predominant housing type in this area. Roughly three quarters of the population of this community own their home whereas the remainder are renters. This area offers mainly two bedroom and three bedroom homes.
