Located in the Greater Saint John metropolitan area, Island View is a neighbourhood within Saint John, New Brunswick.

Transportation

Island View is very car friendly. It is a reasonably short car ride to the nearest highway from any location in this part of the city, and finding a place to park is quite easy. However, getting around by transit can be very hard in Island View due to the low service level. Nonetheless, homeowners are served by a few bus lines, and it is easy to reach a nearby bus stop from most houses. Travelling on foot is not very feasible for home buyers in Island View as running daily errands is difficult by walking. This part of Saint John is also not very amenable to cycling as there are few bike lanes, and bicycling is made difficult by the often hilly area.

Services

Families will welcome the proximity to primary schools, which are within walking distance from the majority of houses for sale in Island View. In contrast, there are no high schools in this area. Concerning eating, in all but a very small number of cases, a vehicle is needed to buy groceries. Nevertheless, it is generally a reasonably short distance to the nearest pharmacy, which can supply some staple foods. A limited number of restaurants can be found in this area as well.

Island View is a great neighbourhood to buy a house in for those who prefer a relaxed environment. Island View is especially quiet overall, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour. Housing

Single detached homes are the predominant housing type, representing many dwellings in Island View, whereas the remainder are mainly small apartment buildings. Around 30% of properties in this part of Saint John were constructed in the 1960s and 1970s, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s. This part of the city is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes.
