Chartwell

Situated within the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area, Chartwell is a neighbourhood in West Vancouver, British Columbia.

Transportation

Cars are an excellent mode of transportation in Chartwell. It is especially convenient to park, and it is a very short drive to the closest highway, such as Trans-Canada Highway, from any home in Chartwell. However, the public transit system in this part of West Vancouver is not very accessible. Thankfully, the neighbourhood is linked by a few bus lines, and bus stops are not very far away from most residences. Walking is not very practical for house buyers in Chartwell because few daily errands can be run without the use of a car. Getting around by bicycle is also difficult in this part of West Vancouver because there is a considerable amount of hills, and there are few bike lanes.

Services

Both primary and secondary schools are easy to access on foot from most houses for sale in Chartwell. In contrast, there are only a very small number of daycares and thus they can be a very long walk away. With regards to food, a car is almost always needed in this part of the municipality to access the closest supermarket.

Character

The character of Chartwell is exemplified by its slower-paced ambience. This part of West Vancouver is very quiet, as noise from streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue - although that is not the case closer to Taylor Offramp Way or Trans-Canada Highway. Finally, there are approximately 30 parks close by for residents to check out, which makes it very easy to reach them from the majority of locations in the neighbourhood.

Housing

The sizeable proportion of single detached homes in the housing stock of Chartwell is an important part of its character. Roughly 40% of properties in this neighbourhood were built between 1960 and 1980, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s. There is a higher proportion of four or more bedroom homes in this part of the municipality. Roughly three quarters of the population of this neighbourhood own their home whereas the rest are renters.
