Chartwell

Located within the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area, Chartwell is a neighbourhood in West Vancouver, British Columbia.

Transportation

Driving is usually the best method to move around in this area. It is very convenient to park, and nearby highways, such as taylor way, are very easy to reach from anywhere in Chartwell. However, public transit riders may experience few options in Chartwell due to the infrequent service. Nonetheless, there are a few bus lines traversing the neighbourhood, and bus stops are not very far from most residences. The bicycle is a rather poor means of transportation in Chartwell since there are few bike lanes, and there are quite a few hills. Chartwell is also not very well-suited for those who travel by foot because few daily needs can be carried out by walking.

Services

In Chartwell, families will generally be able to get to both primary and secondary schools on foot. However, it can be very difficult to reach daycares on foot. When it comes to food, a car is almost always needed in this part of West Vancouver to access the closest supermarket.

Character

The character of Chartwell is exemplified by its relaxed atmosphere. There are around 30 public green spaces nearby for residents to check out, which makes it very easy to access them from a lot of locations in this area. This part of West Vancouver is also very quiet, as the streets tend to be very calm - although there are still several noisier sections, especially closer to Trans-Canada Highway or taylor way.

Housing

The sizeable proportion of single detached homes in the housing stock of Chartwell is an important part of its character. Around 40% of properties in this neighbourhood were built between 1960 and 1980, while most of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1980s. There is a higher proportion of four or more bedroom homes in this part of West Vancouver. Around three quarters of the properties in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners whereas the remainder are rented.
