Transportation

Downtown Peninsula is an excellent area with respect to getting around without driving. Walking is very practical for property owners in Downtown Peninsula; many daily needs are very easy to meet on foot, and countless businesses of different types can be found as well. A fair number of residents in the area use their bike as there are innumerable bike lanes, and bike-share stations are hardly ever more than a short walk away. With many nearby rapid transit stations with access to the Expo Line and Canada Line, and about 40 nearby bus lines, the public transit system in Downtown Peninsula is especially convenient. In contrast, driving is a rather poor means of transportation in Downtown Peninsula as almost none of the street infrastructure is appropriate for driving, and it is very difficult to park.

It is straightforward to access both a general and a specialty grocery store on foot from anywhere in Downtown Peninsula. Davie Street is among the best streets for food stores. Moreover, with over 500 restaurants and over 50 coffee shops, Downtown Peninsula is a very good area in which to eat out. With regards to education, in this area, families will typically be able to reach daycares and schools on foot. Residents have the choice between public and private schools at both the primary and secondary school level.

Character

Downtown Peninsula offers a variety of experiences for home buyers who enjoy a vibrant atmosphere and spending time in green spaces. This area has a very large number of places for those looking for a dynamic vibe. The streets are almost always busy with people, many entertainment venues can be found nearby, and with its over 50 bars, there are options for nighttime activities. Granville Street in particular offers a reasonably good selection of nightlife. It is very easy to access public green spaces from the majority of locations in the neighbourhood, since reaching one from most homes for sale is very easy. There are approximately 30 parks close by for residents to enjoy, including English Bay Beach Park.

Housing

Around 70% of the units in the neighbourhood are occupied by renters and 30% are occupied by owners. The large percentage of large apartment buildings in the housing stock of this neighbourhood is an important part of its character. Roughly one third of properties in this area were built after the year 2000, while many of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1960s. This part of the city is notable for those looking for one bedroom homes.
