Chinatown

The neighbourhood of Chinatown is part of the city of Vancouver, British Columbia, which is located in the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area.

Transportation

Homeowners in Chinatown are presented with several choices to move around without using a car. Chinatown has a great public transit infrastructure. Rapid transit stations, such as Main Street-Science World Station @ Platform 1 and Main Street-Science World Station @ Platform 2 on the Expo Line, are not very far from the greater part of homes in the neighbourhood. The neighbourhood is linked by about 20 bus lines, and bus stops are generally nearby. Walking is also especially practical for residents in Chinatown; running common errands is very convenient on foot, and a very large number of businesses of different types can be found as well. Riding a bicycle is very popular in Chinatown since the cycling infrastructure is excellent, and bike-share stations are hardly ever more than a few blocks away.

Services

Families will welcome the proximity to both primary and secondary schools, which are within walking distance from most, if not all, houses for sale in Chinatown. On the other hand, families may find it difficult for their children to get to daycares as a pedestrian. With respect to food, it is usually feasible for house buyers in Chinatown to purchase general and specialty groceries on foot. Moreover, those who appreciate dining out won't have to walk far in this neighbourhood, where about 40 restaurants and a few coffee shops can be found, for example along Abbott Street.

There is a wide selection of entertainment venues, the streets are almost always busy with people, and with its a few bars, there are options for nighttime activities. It is very easy to access parks since there are a few of them close by for residents to discover.

Housing

The buildings in this area are very new, because most of its dwellings were constructed after the year 2000, while many of the remaining buildings were built in the 1990s. The substantial percentage of large apartment buildings in the housing stock of this neighbourhood is an important part of its character. Roughly 60% of the dwellings in the neighbourhood are occupied by renters while the remainder are occupied by owners. This area offers mainly two bedroom and one bedroom homes.
