Lower Lonsdale

Lower Lonsdale is a neighbourhood within City of North Vancouver, British Columbia, which is situated in the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area.

Transportation

Regardless of the means of transportation, it is quite convenient to travel in Lower Lonsdale. The fairly good public transit access allows people to get to many destinations without needing a car. In particular, there are around 10 bus lines crossing the neighbourhood, and most homes are very close to a bus stop. Lower Lonsdale is also a very pleasant part of City of North Vancouver for pedestrians; running daily errands is easy, and many businesses are quite nearby. Physically active property owners will appreciate the quite cycling-friendly character of Lower Lonsdale. In particular, there are a good number of bike lanes.

Services

In this part of the city, parents and their kids will generally be able to access daycares and schools by walking. At the elementary level, both public and private schools can be found. With regards to food, home buyers in this neighbourhood will appreciate that a general and a specialty grocery store is always only a short walk away. Moreover, there are a fair number of opportunities in close proximity for those who appreciate restaurants and cafes. It is also a reasonably short walk to a decent selection of clothing stores.

Character

Lower Lonsdale is a fairly good neighbourhood to buy a house in for those who prefer a calm ambience. It is very easy to get to parks since there are about 30 of them close by for residents to relax in. This neighbourhood is also reasonably quiet, as there are low levels of noise from traffic - although that is not the case near the railway line.

Housing

In Lower Lonsdale, around half of dwellings are small apartment buildings, while large apartment buildings are the main alternative in the housing stock. This part of the city offers mainly two bedroom and one bedroom homes. The split between renters and homeowners is about even. The homes in this part of City of North Vancouver are relatively new, since roughly one third of its dwellings were built in the 1960s and 1970s, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1980s and the 1990s.
