Brompton

Located in the Greater Sherbrooke metropolitan area, Brompton is a borough within Sherbrooke, Quebec.

Transportation

Brompton is very car friendly. Most properties for sale are a rather short drive from the nearest highway, such as Autoroute Louis-Bilodeau, and it is especially convenient to park. However, Brompton is not very transit friendly. Thankfully, there are a few bus lines traversing the borough, and most residences are very close to a bus stop. Although cycling is more practical in some sectors than others, bicycling is at times difficult in Brompton because cyclists are faced with quite a few slopes, and the cycling network is rather limited. Brompton is also not very conducive to those who travel by foot because very few daily needs can be carried out by walking.

Services

Home buyers in Brompton almost always have to use a vehicle to buy their groceries. Nevertheless, pharmacies are generally easy to access on foot and supply some basic food items. A limited number of restaurants can be found in Brompton as well. As far as education is concerned, in this area, parents and their children will usually be able to reach both primary and secondary schools on foot. However, daycares are not plentiful and consequently not always within walking distance.

Character

Brompton offers a relaxed environment and will appeal to home buyers who enjoy spending time in green spaces. This part of the city is very quiet, as there are generally low levels of noise from traffic - although that is not the case closer to Autoroute Joseph-Armand-Bombardier, Autoroute Louis-Bilodeau or the railway line. Finally, getting to green spaces is easy in the borough, since there are a few of them close by for residents to check out and most houses for sale have a park around the corner.

Housing

In Brompton, around two thirds of dwellings are single detached homes, while small apartment buildings are also present in the housing stock. This borough is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. About 70% of the dwellings in the borough are occupied by homeowners and the rest are rented. This part of Sherbrooke did not experience a single construction boom; the construction of new homes in the borough was spread throughout several decades in the twentieth and twenty-first century.
