Transportation

Notre-Dame-des-Laurentides is an extraordinarily good part of Québec for travelling by car. Many homes for sale are a short drive from the closest highway, such as Autoroute Laurentienne, and coming across a parking spot is quite easy. In contrast, the public transit service in this neighbourhood is fairly poor. Nonetheless, the neighbourhood is linked by about 10 bus lines, and most homes are very close to a bus stop. Notre-Dame-des-Laurentides is cycling-friendly. This neighbourhood is not very convenient for those who travel by foot because very few daily needs can be met without the use of a car.

Services

In Notre-Dame-des-Laurentides, parents and their children will usually be able to access daycares and primary schools by walking. On the other hand, it can be very hard to get to high schools as a pedestrian. With regards to food, some, but not all, home buyers in this part of the city will live within walking distance of the nearest grocery store. A limited number of restaurants can be found in Notre-Dame-des-Laurentides as well.

Character

Notre-Dame-des-Laurentides offers a slower-paced atmosphere and will appeal to those who enjoy spending time outdoors. Most areas in this part of the city are very quiet, as there tend to be low levels of noise from traffic - although that is not the case closer to Autoroute Laurentienne. Finally, there are a few public green spaces nearby for residents to relax in, like Parc du Bon-Pasteur and Parc Linéaire de la Rivière-des-Roches, resulting in them being easy to get to from the majority of locations within Notre-Dame-des-Laurentides.

Housing

The buildings in this area are quite new, since roughly 40% of its buildings were built following the year 2000, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1960s. In this part of Québec, many dwellings are single detached homes, and the rest of the houses are mainly small apartment buildings and townhouses. Roughly 80% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home and renters make up the remainder. This area is primarily composed of two bedroom and three bedroom homes.
