Halpern

Halpern is a neighbourhood within Montréal, Quebec, which is situated in the Greater Montreal metropolitan area.

Transportation

Halpern is an extremely good part of Montréal for driving. Many real estate listings are a very short car ride from the closest highway, such as Autoroute Félix-Leclerc, and it is very convenient to come across a place to park. However, travelling by transit can be occasionally difficult in Halpern due to the service's low frequency. Nevertheless, there are a few bus lines, and the nearest bus stop is usually very close. Despite the fact that cycling is better in some pockets than others, and cyclists do not face serious elevation changes, Halpern is not especially suited for cycling as there are few bike lanes. It is also difficult for pedestrians to get around in this neighbourhood because running daily errands is impractical.

Services

In Halpern, families will usually be able to reach daycares on foot. However, there are no primary schools and no high schools in Halpern. In terms of food, in all cases, a car is needed to do groceries. On the other hand, house buyers won't have to go far to take advantage of the closest coffee shop, and there are a few opportunities for those who appreciate restaurants in close proximity.

Character

There are a lot of green spaces to enjoy in Halpern. To be more precise, although this part of the city is not home to any parks, public green spaces are very well-situated in nearby neighbourhoods, which makes them easy to get to. However, few tree-lined streets are around. Finally, this neighbourhood can be rather noisy, since traffic during busier hours of the day can occasionally be bothersome.

Housing

About one third of properties in Halpern were constructed after the year 2000, while many of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1980s. Single detached homes are the predominant housing type, representing about 40% of dwellings in this area, while townhouses make up most of the remaining housing stock. Homeowners occupy roughly 90% of the units in Halpern and the rest are rented. This part of Montréal offers mainly four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes.
