Halpern

Located within the Greater Montreal metropolitan area, Halpern is a neighbourhood within Montréal, Quebec.

Transportation

Halpern is an extremely good part of Montréal for driving. Many real estate listings are a very short car ride from the closest highway, such as Autoroute Chomedey, and it is very convenient to come across a place to park. However, travelling by transit can be occasionally difficult in Halpern due to the service's low frequency. Nevertheless, there are a few bus lines, and the nearest bus stop is usually very close. Despite the fact that cycling is better in some pockets than others, and cyclists do not face serious elevation changes, Halpern is not especially suited for cycling as there are few bike lanes. It is also difficult for pedestrians to get around in this neighbourhood because running daily errands is impractical.

Services

Daycares are easy to access on foot from anywhere in this neighbourhood. However, this neighbourhood does not have any primary schools or high schools. As far as food is concerned, home buyers in Halpern almost always have to turn to a vehicle to reach the nearest grocery store. Conversely, a coffee shop is often just around the corner, and there are a few opportunities for those who appreciate close by restaurants.

Character

There is a vast selection of green spaces in Halpern. To be more precise, although the neighbourhood is not home to any green spaces, parks are very well-situated in nearby neighbourhoods, which results in them being easy to get to from most locations within this part of Montréal. At the same time, few tree-lined streets are present. This part of the city is a great neighbourhood for those who aren't bothered by a little noise, since during busier hours of the day, traffic can occasionally be loud.

Housing

Single detached homes are the predominant housing type, representing about 40% of buildings in Halpern, while townhouses are the main alternative in the housing stock. This part of Montréal is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. Nearly 90% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home and 10% are renters. Roughly one third of properties in this part of the city were constructed after the year 2000, while most of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1980s.
