Saraguay

Saraguay is a neighbourhood within Montréal, Quebec, which is located in the Greater Montreal metropolitan area.

Transportation

Regardless of the means of transportation, it is convenient to move around in Saraguay. With a few nearby bus lines, the public transit network in this part of the city is reasonably good. This area is also a fairly pleasant part of Montréal for bike riders. For example, there are a limited number of elevation changes. This part of Montréal is not particularly suitable for walking since common errands are at times difficult to run without the use of a car. On the other hand, the best method of transportation in Saraguay is very often a car. It is easy to find a place to park, and many houses for sale are a reasonably short drive from the closest highway, such as Autoroute Chomedey.

Services

Accessing the closest grocery store by walking is possible for some, but not all, house buyers in Saraguay. In terms of education, both primary and secondary schools are easy to get to on foot from anywhere in Saraguay. In contrast, daycares are not particularly abundant and consequently not always within walking distance.

Character

Home buyers who prefer a slower-paced environment will enjoy Saraguay. Greenery is present in this neighbourhood as the tree canopy coverage for most streets is fairly good. Access to public green spaces, including Parc-Nature du Bois-de-Saraguay, is easy from numerous locations in the neighbourhood since there are a few of them nearby for residents to check out. The noise levels in this neighbourhood are also low, as the streets are usually quite tranquil - however noise can be problematic near one of the railway lines or Autoroute Chomedey.

Housing

The predominance of single detached homes in the housing stock of Saraguay is an important part of its character. About 30% of properties in this part of Montréal were built in the 1960s and 1970s, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s. This area is primarily composed of three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy nearly 95% of the properties in Saraguay whereas the rest are rented.
