Les Rivières

Part of the Greater Québec City metropolitan area, Les Rivières is a borough within Québec, Quebec.

Transportation

This part of the city is very car friendly. It is a short drive to the closest highway, such as Autoroute Henri-IV, from any location in Les Rivières, and it is convenient to park. In contrast, public transit users may experience limited options in this borough due to the infrequent service. Nevertheless, the borough is connected by over 50 bus lines, and the nearest bus stop is generally just around the corner. It is convenient to move around by bike in this part of Québec since the terrain is flat. On the other hand, travelling by foot is not very popular in Les Rivières, even though many daily needs can be met by walking.

Services

Primary schools and daycares are easy to access on foot from most houses for sale in this area. In contrast, families may consider it challenging for their children to access high schools as a pedestrian. Along with public schools, there are private elementary and high schools. As far as food is concerned, the nearest supermarket in Les Rivières is usually only a rather short walk away. A limited number of restaurants and coffee shops can be found as well.

Character

The character of Les Rivières is exemplified by its relaxed environment. The noise levels in this area are very low, as the streets are generally very calm - although that is not the case close to the airport (Héliport de Québec (Sureté du Québec)), one of the railway lines, Autoroute Robert-Bourassa or Autoroute Laurentienne. Lastly, most locations within the borough have reasonably good access to green spaces, like Parc Chauveau and Parc de l'Escarpement, since there are over 50 of them nearby for residents to discover.

Housing

About 55% of dwellings are small apartment buildings, making it easy to find apartments in Les Rivières, while the rest are mainly single detached homes. This borough is primarily composed of three bedroom and two bedroom homes. The split between renters and homeowners is about even. Around one third of homes in this part of Québec were constructed after the year 2000, while the majority of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1980s.
