Terrebonne

The borough of Terrebonne can be found in the city of Terrebonne, Quebec, which is situated in the Greater Montreal metropolitan area.

Transportation

Terrebonne is very car friendly. It is easy to come across a parking spot, and it is a short car ride to the closest highway, such as Autoroute 640, from anywhere in Terrebonne. On the other hand, this part of the city is not very transit friendly. Nonetheless, there are approximately 40 bus lines, and most houses are very close to a bus stop. This part of the city is not especially well-suited for those who travel by foot because few daily needs can be met by walking. However, Terrebonne is quite bike-friendly since there are a limited number of elevation changes for cyclists to brave.

Services

A fraction of house buyers in Terrebonne may be able to buy groceries by walking in one of approximately 10 stores, while others will have to turn to another means of transportation. A small number of restaurants and coffee shops can be found as well. Regarding education, it is a short walk to reach daycares and primary schools from most houses for sale in Terrebonne. On the other hand, it can be challenging to access high schools as a pedestrian. In addition to public schools, there are private elementary and high schools.

Character

Home buyers who prefer a calm ambience will enjoy Terrebonne. This area is very good for those who need a quiet atmosphere, as there tend to be low levels of noise from traffic. Finally, there is not that much greenery in this area; more specifically, residents will find that most streets have sub-par tree coverage. Nonetheless, parks, such as Parc Écologique de la Coulée, are very well-spread out and there are over 50 of them close by for residents to check out, resulting in them being easy to get to from most locations within the borough.

Housing

Single detached homes are the most common housing type, representing about 60% of dwellings in Terrebonne, while small apartment buildings are also present in the housing stock. About one third of homes in this area were built after the year 2000, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 1980s. This borough has a good variety of unit sizes, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. Roughly three quarters of the properties in the borough are occupied by homeowners while renters occupy the remainder.
