Despite the fact that few entertainment venues can be found nearby, the streets are usually busy with people, and with its about 10 nightlife venues, it is very easy to find a place to grab a drink because they are generally located around the corner. Most areas in Le Sud-Ouest are reasonably quiet, as the streets tend to be peaceful, although that is not the case near one of the railway lines, Autoroute Ville-Marie or Autoroute Décarie. Greenery is quite present in this area as most streets have fairly good tree coverage. It is very easy to get to parks from most locations within the borough since there are over 50 of them close by for residents to check out.

Renters occupy roughly two thirds of the dwellings in the borough while owners occupy the remainder. Small apartment buildings are the most common housing type, representing roughly half of dwellings in this part of Montréal, whereas the rest are mainly large apartment buildings and duplexes. About 40% of homes in this area were constructed pre-1960, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 1980s. This borough offers mainly one bedroom and two bedroom homes.
