Driving is a great transportation option in Lakeside. It is very convenient to park, and the majority of houses for sale are a short drive from the closest highway, such as Autoroute du Souvenir. This part of Pointe-Claire is not particularly amenable to biking as there are a fair number of hills, and the cycling infrastructure is fairly poor. Most houses for sale in this neighbourhood are located in areas that are also not very convenient for those who travel by foot because running daily errands is at times challenging without using a vehicle.

In Lakeside, parents and their children will generally be able to reach primary schools by walking. In contrast, Lakeside does not contain any high schools. When it comes to eating, in all but a very small number of cases, a car is required in this neighbourhood to access the nearest supermarket. There are a few options for those who appreciate restaurants in close proximity.

The character of Lakeside is exemplified by its calm atmosphere. The greenery in this part of Pointe-Claire is reasonably prominent as numerous tree-lined streets are around. It is easy to get to public green spaces since there are a few of them nearby for residents to check out. This area is very quiet overall, as noise from the streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue - although there are still several louder sections, especially around Autoroute du Souvenir.

The predominance of single detached homes in the housing stock of Lakeside is an important part of its character. This neighbourhood experienced its biggest construction boom prior to the 1960s, so most of the available homes are from this time period. This part of Pointe-Claire is primarily composed of three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes. About 80% of the units in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners while the remainder are rented.
