Bienville

Located within the Greater Montreal metropolitan area, Bienville is a neighbourhood in Longueuil, Quebec.

Transportation

Bienville is an extremely convenient part of Longueuil for moving around by car. It is very convenient to park, and many real estate listings are a rather short car ride from the nearest highway, such as Autoroute de l'Acier. However, Bienville is not very transit friendly. Thankfully, house owners have access to around 10 bus lines, and the nearest bus stop is generally very close. Although it is an even ride to most locations, and a few enjoyable sectors for cycling exist, Bienville is not especially bicycling-friendly as there are a limited number of bike lanes. Travelling on foot is also not very convenient for residents in this part of the city as very few common errands can be run without having to resort to a vehicle.

Services

Parents and their children will find that no matter where their house is situated in Bienville, primary schools and daycares are close by. In contrast, there are no high schools in Bienville. Concerning food, it is very rarely an option for home buyers in this part of Longueuil to travel to the nearest grocery store by walking. There are also a few choices for those who care about nearby restaurants and cafes.

Character

Home buyers who prefer a slower-paced environment will enjoy Bienville. Greenery is not particularly present in this area; more specifically, residents will find that the tree canopy coverage for a large number of streets is sub-par. Nonetheless, there are a few parks close by for residents to visit and they are very well-spread out, which makes it easy to reach them from most locations within Bienville. This area is very quiet overall, as noise from the streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue - although there are still several louder sections, especially near Autoroute de l'Acier.

Housing

In Bienville, most buildings are single detached homes, while small apartment buildings are also present in the housing stock. This part of the city has a good selection of unit sizes, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. Homeowners occupy about 85% of the units in Bienville while the remainder are rented. Most of the housing growth in this neighbourhood has taken place following the year 2000.
